“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
— Philippians 4:13
Young Adults ...
Wesley has many fellowship and discipleship opportunities for young adults (ages 18-40, roughly), including:
Regular young adult Bible studies (recent studies have included a Lord of the Rings themed study, and an Amos study)
Outdoor discussions/social time
Service in ministry, music, and worship, and
Collaboration with young adults from other local churches.
Young adults are strongly encouraged to participate in lay leadership, including serving on:
SPRC (Staff Parish Relations Committee),
and leading ministries such as our Reconciling, Community Garden, and Sanctuary ministries.
Starting in May of 2021:
Wesley young adults are invited to participate in a Theology at the Margins reading group alongside young adults at several other local churches.
This group will focus on theological questions relating to race, gender, sexuality, disability, poverty, body shame and diet culture, the environment, food ethics, etc.

You are Welcome here
Here on the edge of The University of Virginia’s grounds, we are honored to have undergraduate and graduate students worship and serve in ministry with us. All students are welcome to make Wesley Memorial their church home away from home, and to participate fully in the life of our congregation.
We are especially delighted to have students involved in our music and outreach programs, and to serve as lay readers, greeters, and communion servers on Sunday mornings.
Students worshiping with us are encouraged to introduce yourself to Rev. Phil and Rev. Gary.
Wesley Foundation at UVA
Right next door to us, across our parking lot, stands The Wesley Foundation, the home to United Methodist Campus Ministry. Here's a message from The Rev. Deborah Lewis, Campus Minister:
The Wesley Foundation's goal is to create a community where students can question and explore their faith through conversation, community service, and worship. We are a United Methodist faith community that welcomes students of all faiths, backgrounds, and sexual orientations. Our events are relaxed and don't require commitment -- be as involved as you want. Our service work supports local projects like the Virginia Institute of Autism and PACEM (serving Charlottesville's homeless individuals). Wesley is a place to be and a place to become, where everyone has an opportunity to build their relationship with God by building relationships with each other.
Wesley Memorial UMC offers four annual Choral Scholarships to college students who join our choir. We look for one each of SATB, but will gladly welcome other combinations of singers.
The commitment is one rehearsal each week on Wednesday evenings beginning at 7:15 and ending at 8:45, Sunday morning warm-up at 10:30 and worship at 11:00.
Each Choral Scholar will receive $175 per month September through May.
Please contact our Minister of Music, Cameron Pampus, for further information or to apply.
